Foodie Friday: açai bowls

Updated: Feb 24, 2019

Getting your fruit fix in the winter can be hard, because most fruit is overpriced and frankly not that nice. As someone who only cooks for myself, I am a big fan of frozen fruit and even buying reduced fruit five minutes before the shops close and freezing it myself. So here is my recipe to make a gorgeous, filling açai bowl...

Method:

1. Get your fruit out the freezer a couple of hours in advance, eating frozen fruit is nice if you're in sunny LA but rainy Britain means it's a bit cold for that.

2. Empty your chosen fruits into a blending bottle, I used plums, blueberries, a berry mix and a tropical mix but you can basically put in anything that you want.

3. Add in some granola, a teaspoon of açai powder and a teaspoon of chia seeds (again you can add or take away ingredients as you wish).

4. Pour in a splash of water to make sure it can blend.

5. Blend it all up.

6. Pour it into a bowl.

7. Top with whatever dry ingredients or fresh fruit you have, I didn't have any fruit so used granola, sultanas, almond flakes and honey.

My favourite thing about açai bowls is that no two are ever going to be the same! You can change what you're putting in them every time and they're so simple to create.
