Poached eggs... They can be tricky to master but when you know how, they can be easily achieved. I never really enjoyed poached eggs until around a year ago. Prior to this I had watched and heard the anger when my family and attempted to make them and ultimately failed.
I've heard different tips like "put vinegar in the water" "you need to use fresh eggs" "swirl the water gently before putting them in!" So, when I made poached eggs for the first time, I ignored all of that advice and just threw them in a plastic bag. Yes, that's right, just using a cling film or a plastic freezer bag will allow you to make perfectly cooked, and perfectly round, poached eggs.
Watch me make mine in the video below:
You will need:
Eggs
Cling film
A small glass
Plastic clip
Oil of your choice (I think a couple spritz of oil spray work best)
Pan of boiling water
Bread or whatever you are putting your poached egg onto
Choice of toppings.
Method:
1. Start by putting a pan of water on to boil.
2. While the water heats get your glass and lay your cling film over it.
3. Push the cling film into the glass slightly to form a bowl shape.
4. Add your oil to the cling film, if you're like me in the video and glug too much in, wipe it around with some kitchen roll.
5. Crack your egg into the cling film.
6. Gather the cling film and twist it before securing it with the bread clip.
7. When the water is boiled add your egg and leave for 4 and a half minutes. I have tried this with gas and electric hobs and this amount of time seems to be good for both.
8. While the egg is in the pan prepare your bread or whatever your putting your egg on and add your toppings unless you're putting them on your egg.
9. When your egg has finished put your egg into cool water until you are able to hold it without burning your fingers.
10. Unwrap your egg and place on to your bread and there you have it, perfectly poached eggs.
